Ishuzoku Reviewers/Interspecies Reviewers is a Japanese manga series, which was written by Amahara and illustrated by masha. An anime television series adaptation by Passione aired on January 11, 2020. Ishuzoku Reviewers focuses on the human Stunk and the elf Zel, who are buddies, living in a world where numerous races exist. Stunk and Zel have different taste in women and because of that they always argue, which race is the best. To find it out, they sample brothels of all different species. One day, they discover that they can make money out of their quest and to review girls, they had relations with.
Stunk's andZel's quest is to find the best race to have sexual relations with, they always argue about that and that is the main focus of this series. In the world, where Ishuzoku Reviewers takes place, Stunk and Zel visit brothels, or magic shops to change their sex and share their thoughts with other adventurers. And for a note, these reviews are in a great demand, for some reason. And that is pretty much it, every episode is the same thing, which makes you little by little get tired of the story. While Ishuzoku Reviewers is also a comedy, a really bad one, I believe what storyline lacks is something that would have made it less monotonous. Imagine for a second, Zel and Stunk write their reviews and at some point they make a pretty negative review on the ‘species A’. They are frustrated and want to take revenge upon the group of reviewers, they kidnap Kanchal, or maybe even kill him, because who would even care about the poor thing. Something like that would have made the storyline quite interesting to watch, too bad what the series has, is a storyline that becomes average after awhile.
Animation wise, it does somewhat remind me of Monster Girl Quest; so many different races, they all look unique, have many features and overall look cute. From all the things, animation wise, it is pretty good, yes. OST and voice acting wise, both the OST and voice acting fit the series quite well.
As for the characters, they do look somewhat unique to observe, but they also suffer some huge flaws. Like, the narrator will sometimes mention the background of Stunk and Zel and then, without any solid explanations about what they used to be, gets down to the main focus of the series, reviewing different races. So, what I am trying to say is that if you are trying to show the background of the characters, you should tell almost everything, or just avoid it and never show it. Too bad, it was not the case.
Enjoyment wise, it is difficult to say whether I enjoyed it, or not. It looked like a Monster Girl Quest adaptation to me, a very poorly made adaptation, I dare say. The series had quite a potential and could have been something more than 12 episodes of fap material. As I have already mentioned in my review, comedy is the weakest thing about this series. What could have made it less boring is something like, girls are not satisfied with the reviews, they kidnap Kanchal, he is nearly killed/killed, Stunk and Zel save him/do not save him, etc.,etc.,etc. There are so many possibilities that are now lost to make this series really worthwhile.
All in all, Ishuzoku Reviewers could have been a much interesting series to enjoy. Hopefully, Amahara will get some more experience in writing and make some new, more interesting works in the future.
